Fall leaves, fall colors—
a new season appears.
Fresh air, fresh scents,
whispering change through the years.
 
Energized, refreshed,
cheeks softly aglow,
we wander in wonder,
breathing it in, moving slow.
 
I love the fall season. It is a time when cooler weather invites the leaves to reveal their rich autumn colors. Often, leaves carry more than one earthy tone, creating a kaleidoscope of warm hues. As they decay, the skeletal remains of their veins are exposed—each one unique, like a fingerprint.
 
For this art piece, I recreated the look of a decaying leaf, interpreted through fabric and thread to reveal its veins. The leaf “floats” on a bed of fabric and is finished with both machine and hand stitching. It is wrapped on a wood panel and trimmed in grosgrain.
